In brief

The Leibniz Programme for Women Professors targets women in all disciplines who have an outstanding international track record. They will be granted a full professorship position (W2/W3) which is either permanent or which features a tenure-track option guaranteed by the university and the relevant Leibniz Institute.

Who can apply?

Women in all disciplines who

  • have an outstanding international track record
  • meet the requirements to hold a professorship or already hold one, and
  • whose research contributes to the institute’s and the collaborating university’s research strategy

Type and extent of funding

Funding: successful candidates will receive funding of up to 1.7 million euros to fund their professorship, personnel and equipment.

Duration

5 years with tenure-track or 5 years with a permanent position.

Application

Calls are published every year in August and can be found on the Leibniz Association’s website. Candidates are asked to contact the Leibniz Institute of their choice with a draft of their application to discuss their project and its fit within the institute’s research strategy. There are two application deadlines per year, one in September and one in March.

Leibniz Institutes conduct both basic and applied research, often with an interdisciplinary approach. Leibniz Institutes offer jobs individually, and the Leibniz Association additionally advertises its vacancies on its job portal.
