International Climate Protection Fellowship

In brief

Climate protection, biodiversity and sustainability are the issues that you can address with the International Climate Protection Fellowship. Fellowships are awarded not only to postdocs, but also to prospective leaders from non-European emerging economies or developing countries who work in the area of climate protection.
The Fellowship allows them to realise a long-term scientific project at a host institution of their choice in Germany.

Who can apply?

Postdocs who

  • have successfully completed a PhD or comparable academic degree in the areas of climate protection or climate-relevant resource protection
  • can provide evidence of academic publications in journals and publications peer-reviewed according to international standards and
  • have very good English and/or German language skills

and young leaders from relevant areas with extensive professional experience, initial experience of leadership positions and relevant leadership skills.

Type and extent of funding

Monthly fellowship of 2,670 euros for postdocs; young leaders receive a monthly fellowship of 2,170 euros to 2,670 euros depending on their career level; additional financial support is available, for example for accompanying family members, travel costs or a German course.

Duration

12 to 24 months (postdocs); 12 months (prospective leaders).
