Testimonial for Research in Germany
Are you interested in in becoming a Research in Germany testimonial?
Starting a life and building a research career in a new country can be exciting, and sometimes challenging. Hearing from someone who has been through a similar experience can make the path ahead feel a little clearer. By sharing your story, including the challenges, discoveries and everyday moments along the way, you can help other international researchers feel more prepared, supported and confident as they find their own way to Germany.
Information about applying as a Research in Germany testimonial
We are looking for international researchers, doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers and research professionals who are currently conducting research in Germany or are preparing to relocate to Germany in the near future and would like to share their experiences with an international audience.
As a Research in Germany testimonial, you will create content for the Research in Germany social media channels and website – and thus give other international researchers an authentic glimpse into research and everyday life in Germany. As a testimonial, you will typically cover the following topics:
- Insights into your research environment
- Everyday life in Germany
- Things you’ve learned along the way
- Your personal perspective and experiences
Research in Germany is responsible for the overall planning of topics and editorial content. However, within the scope of the above-mentioned subject areas, testimonials are also given the opportunity to suggest their own topics and ideas.
Selected participants may contribute to written articles, interviews, videos, photography projects, social media content and other Research in Germany communication activities, e. g (online) events. As part of your role as a testimonial, we expect the following content to be provided as a minimum:
- One blog post over the course of the collaboration
- One image post per month
- One video post per month
All content should be delivered in a ready-to-publish format, including all necessary elements (e.g. subtitles). Further details, as well as graphic templates, for example, will be provided in due course. In addition, all testimonials will participate in a content creation workshop at the start of the collaboration. The workshop will offer practical guidance on creating and preparing your content, helping you feel confident and making the process easier.
In return for their contributions, the testimonials receive a monthly remuneration. The details and the legal aspects of the collaboration will be set out in a contract. The contract is initially intended to run for approx. six months. Please note that Research in Germany primarily creates content in English for an international audience. Applicants should therefore have a good command of English (both spoken and written) and feel comfortable sharing their experiences through interviews, written contributions and social media formats.
Selection process
As part of the selection process, shortlisted applicants will be invited to a 20-minute online interview in the first week of November 2026. Applicants should therefore be available during this period.
Selection will be based on your academic and personal background, research interests, motivation, communication potential and connection to Germany as a research and innovation destination.
Selected participants will receive further information on programme activities, participation requirements, timelines and conditions after selection
