MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) provide funding for postdocs to spend 1 or up to 2 years conducting research in an EU Member State or Associated Country (European PF). For research stays lasting 2 or up to 3 years, the first 1 to 2 years will be spent outside Europe (Global PF) followed by a mandatory return phase at a European host institution. An additional placement of up to six months can be awarded to researchers who will spend that period in a non-academic organisation established in an EU Member State or Associated Country.
The PF aim to enhance the career opportunities of postdoctoral researchers through international and inter-sectoral mobility.

Who can apply?

Requirements for applicants include the following:

  • a completed PhD and a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research at the call deadline
  • postdoctoral researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the host institution for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline
  • European Fellowships: postdocs of any nationality whose host institution is located in a Member State or Associated Country may apply
  • Global Fellowships: postdocs who are either European nationals (of a Member State or Associated Country) or who have been continuously living in Europe (EU Member States or Associated Countries) for at least five consecutive years may apply
  • postdocs from all disciplines and their supervisors at the host institutions in the Member State or Associated Country jointly apply for the fellowship
  • host institutions must be active in research & development, e.g. university, research organisation, company (incl. SMEs), NGO …

What form does funding take?

The main scholarship benefits are as follows:

  • financial support is provided in the form of allowances: living allowance of 5,080 euros per month gross (depending on the host country), plus 600 euros mobility allowance and (if applicable) 660 euros family allowance
  • researchers generally receive a full-time employment contract from their host institution, which includes social security
  • the host institutions receive funding for research, training, networking, management and indirect costs

When is the closing date for applications?

Applications can be submitted from spring until 14 September 2022, 17:00 Brussels time.
