International Climate Protection Fellowship

Do you work academically or practically in the field of climate protection and would like to conduct a project of your own choice in Germany? Then apply for an International Climate Protection Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

Who can apply?

Requirements for applicants include the following:

Prospective leaders: You completed your first academic degree during the last 12 years (Bachelor or comparable degree)
Postdoctoral researchers: You completed your first academic degree during the last 12 years and additionally finished your doctorate no more than four years ago
You explore questions in the natural or engineering sciences or address legal, economic, health-related or societal aspects of climate change
You are a citizen of a non-European developing or transition country and have been predominantly living and working there
initial experience in a leadership role and corresponding leadership skills
very good knowledge of English and/or German
a detailed statement and mentoring agreement from a host in Germany
two expert references

What form does funding take?

The fellowship comprises financial support and is made available for one year (young leaders) or up to two years (postdocs). Depending on qualifications, a basic monthly stipend of between 2,170 euros and 2,670 euros is paid. Additional benefits include an intensive German language course, family allowances and extensive alumni funding. Programme events help fellows to meet and form networks.
