The "TUM Autonomous Motorsport" team can celebrate a great success: their vehicle brought them the victory in an international competition of AI-controlled race cars – by travelling up to 300 kilometres per hour completely without a driver. Apart from this, discover many more articles about interesting people and places in Germany, current funding programmes for international researchers and upcoming career events. And last but not least: get well into 2022!

In this issue, we proudly present the launch of the new "Research in Germany" spotlight on the topic of global health! And to stay on the subject of health: have a look at the new WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence recently inaugurated in Berlin. Apart from this, we talked to a computer scientist from Saudi Arabia at the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics in Bonn in our "People" section this month, and took a look at a useful interactive map. And last but not least, don't forget to check out our current calls and upcoming events!

There is a lot going on: we are pleased to provide lots of current funding opportunities in this newsletter issue, and present our revised brochure on the German research landscape, which is just coming off the printing press – and also available online, of course. And there is a new star in the German quantum computing sky, too: the IBM Quantum System One, which is currently the most powerful system anywhere in Europe. Enjoy reading!

A knowledge repository for the entire research landscape – this is what Germany’s new National Research Data Infrastructure is aiming at. The first consortia now have started their work, and to this end will receive 750 million euros over the coming years. As usual, you will find individual funding and career advice for international researchers in our June issue, too, and get insights into an architect’s research into more sustainable building materials. And of course, we are still happy to meet you at our events – at least virtually. Enjoy!
