While science needs the best minds, there is still a lot of research potential given away as too few highly qualified women work in research. In addition, research institutes worldwide are mostly led by men and there are still wage gaps between the sexes. Children are often a career disadvantage, but that alone does not explain the income and responsibility differences.

The UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) regularly collects data on the worldwide female share in science. Based on UNESCO data in 2016 female share in German science was 28 percent, which is one of the lowest percentages in Europe. (Source: UIS)

Join our online talk on "Women in science" and discuss with our panellists how the situation for women in German science could be improved and how international female scientists can start or continue their research in Germany.

The event is open to anyone interested in doing research in Germany. It is free of charge and will be conducted in English.

We look forward to meet you online!
