
The Immanuel-Kant-Stipendium provides funding for doctoral students who are studying transnational and transcultural relationships in Eastern Europe, particularly with respect to the German-speaking population. Applications can be submitted to the Federal Institute for Culture and History of the Germans in Eastern Europe (BKGE).
Who can apply?
Requirements for applicants include the following:
- projects in the areas of history and politics, European ethnology, art history, literary and language history, migration research and social science will be considered
- the regional focus is placed on the historic East Prussian provinces and the German settlement areas in Eastern, Eastern-Central and South-Eastern Europe
- doctorate at a German university or affiliation to a German university
- applications can be submitted either by candidates themselves, or by their supervising tutors at a German university
What form does funding take?
The main scholarship benefits are as follows:
- monthly stipend of 1,550 euros for a period of two years
(Scholarships are subject to availability of funds.) - additional allowances for a spouse, children and study abroad
When is the closing date for applications?
The closing date for applications is 31 December 2020; the scholarship period begins on 1 July 2021.
