You would like to do a PhD and develop your research project yourself? You would like to become part of an interdisciplinary research network? Then apply for a doctoral scholarship from the Hector Fellow Academy and do your PhD in Germany under the supervision of a Hector Fellow. Hector Fellows are outstanding researchers who belong to the interdisciplinary Hector Fellow Academy and have been awarded several national and international research prizes.
Who can apply?
Requirements for applicants include the following:
- an innovative research project developed by the applicant that ties in with one of the subject areas of the Hector Fellows
- very good Master’s degree in a relevant subject
- very good command of English
- willingness to move to the location where the Hector Fellow supervisor is based in Germany
What form does funding take?
Successful applicants are given a three-year employment contract. Their remuneration will be in line with German civil service salaries. In addition, doctoral students will be provided with annual research funding of 15,000 euros. Networking events and training opportunities will also be available.
When is the closing date for applications?
The application period runs from 1 February until 30 April 2018.
