PhD fellowships from the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds

Who can apply?

Requirements for applicants include the following:

  • first university degree completed not more than four years previously
  • experimental project in the field of basic biomedical research
  • start of project within six months of application

What form does funding take?

The fellowship comprises a monthly stipend of 1,550 euros to cover living expenses. It is initially granted for two years and can be extended for up to a further twelve months. This sum may be increased to reflect the costs of living in the host country. In addition, the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds supports participation in international scientific conferences and practical courses. As well as receiving financial support, fellowship holders are offered personal support and take part in communication training and seminars at which they can present and discuss their scientific projects.
