Green Talents Competition

Are you an up-and-coming scientist in the field of environmental and sustainability research? Are you keen to get to know first-class research institutions in Germany? Are you interested in exchanging ideas with top researchers in your field? Then apply to the “Green Talents Competition”. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) provides funding to 25 young scientists in the area of environmental and sustainability research each year.

About the Green Talents Competition

The winners of the competition are invited to participate in a two-week science forum in Germany, the “Green Talents – International Forum for High-Potentials in Sustainable Development”. The Forum will take place from 17 to 31 October 2015. During the course of these two weeks, the winners will be introduced to top-class institutions of German environmental and sustainability research and have the opportunity to engage in an exchange with experts of their choice. In addition, they will be given the chance to spend three months conducting research at a research institution of their choice in 2016. Participation in the forum and the research placement are funded by the BMBF.
You have to meet the following requirements to apply:

  • Your scientific focus is on sustainable development and you pursue an interdisciplinary research approach
  • You are enrolled in a Master’s degree programme or already have a university degree above this level
  • You have an above-average track record and a very good command of English, and are not older than 32 years of age
  • You have neither German citizenship nor a place of residence in Germany
