Building a Network of Research Alumni

In its role as a research funding organisation with a global network of Humboldt alumni, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is building up a cross-organisational network of research alumni in which individuals who have been sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the Max Planck Society, the Helmholtz Association and the Leibniz Association are all integrated in a sustainable network.

In a second step, these research alumni are encouraged to use their own specialist networks to draw the attention of junior researchers to the potential and opportunities offered by Germany as a destination for research.

International  Research Marketing

The activity is a constituent part of the collaborative project “International Research Marketing” which is a joint initiative by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. All activities within the project are part of the “Promote Innovation and Research in Germany” initiative under its brand “Research in Germany”. The initiative is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Networking Conferences for Research Alumni

Networking Conferences for Research Alumni

In order to establish a network of research alumni the Humboldt Foundation organises networking conferences for research alumni as pilot schemes in the United States and India. Following these events, special funding options are available for research alumni.

Sponsorship Programmes for Research Alumni

In order to offer research alumni the best possible support both for their information activities and for the further development of their professional networks, we grant allowances for conference participation, visits to other universities and research institutions, and for receptions for junior researchers at the research alumni's own institutions.

Information Dissemination by Research Alumni

Become an "ambassador" for research in Germany. As a research alumna/alumnus you know all about the opportunities and potential offered by a research stay in Germany from your own experience. This makes you an ideal “ambassador” for the research location Germany.
