About the project

Laboratory detail of MeDe21

The success of implant-supported prostheses depends on whether and to what extent the implant grows into the surrounding bone. This in turn depends to a large extent on the material and its surface properties. Until now, it has not been possible to simulate osseointegration in vitro because, in addition to the bone itself, components of the immune system and blood also play a role. Therefore, the project aims to establish the jaw-bone-implant-interface, including the immune component in vitro to generate a highly predictive test procedure for osseointegration together with a corresponding documentation system to support regulatory acceptance.
