Transnational Call for Research Proposals: Food and Nutrition Security in Africa
Within the framework of the LEAP Agri Network, funding organisations from nine African and nine European countries will launch research on agriculture and nutrition in Africa. The first call for proposals has been recently published.
Under the umbrella of the ERA-Net Cofund-programme of the European Commission, the LEAP-Agri Network was able to pool 27 million Euro to fund research projects. The network has now published their first transnational LEAP-Agri call for proposals on food-security in Africa.
Project proposals should address three major issues:
- Sustainable intensification
- Agriculture and food systems for nutrition
- Expansion and improvement of agricultural markets and trade.
Deadline for the submission of proposals is the 15th of June 2017, 14:00 central European time (CET). Click here for further information and guidelines regarding proposal submission.
Funding managers in Germany are BLE and DLR. Requirements regarding the submission of outlines and proposals are stated on the LEAP-Agri website. Legally binding are the requirements of the transnational call for proposals announced on the LEAP-Agri website.
Projects funded within the frame of LEAP-Agri shall contribute to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). The call focusses mainly on SDG 1 "End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture", but also on SDG 12 "Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns".
