Who can apply?

Requirements for applicants include the following:

  • Applicants must be enrolled on a PhD programme at a German university.
  • Applicants are expected to provide proof of (very) good school and university achievements/marks and of voluntary social and political involvement.
  • They must have an adequate command of the German language.

What form does funding take?

Scholarship holders receive 1,000 euros per month. Scholarships are awarded for a period of two years, or three at the most. In exceptional cases, support may be provided for longer than three years, though not beyond the time of the final examination.

When is the closing date for applications?

Applications can be submitted at any time.
